GTA5 has sold over 180 million copies; RDR2 exceeds 53 million while Take-Two has 52 games in development (2023)

Take-Two Interactive Software has just announced financial results for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year, covering the period from April 2022 to March 2023, as well as a sales updateGrand Theft Auto VEmRed Dead Redemption 2.

Net sales totaled $1.45 billion, up 56% year-over-year. Recurring consumer spending (mainly microtransactions, season passes, etc.) grew 94% year-on-year and accounted for 79% of total revenue.

Despite revenue growth, the company posted a net loss of $610.3 million, including a $465.3 million impairment charge on acquisition-related assets and a $54.2 million impairment charge for software development costs for unreleased and canceled games . The internal cancellation of several matches was also confirmed by chairman Strauss Zelnick in his prepared remarks.

For the full fiscal year, net sales increased 53% year-on-year to $5.35 billion. Of these, recurring consumer spending accounted for 78% of the total and was up 84% year-on-year. Total net loss for the fiscal year was $1.12 billion, including amortization charges of $465.3 million for acquisitions and $79.1 million for development costs for canceled and unreleased games

As usual, the official press release included a comment from CEO Strauss Zelnick, who said that the development schedule for "several high-profile and highly anticipated titles" had been extended, meaning they had been delayed internally.

The dossier also included an update to the Take-Two series of games, with a total of 52 games due for release in FY2026 (which ends in March 2026), including some we've already seen in the notice and recently collaborated provoked between Private Divisionand creator of Pokémon Game Freak.
